Wheels Day, Term 1

This term we had a wheels day to support  the ‘Great Ride for Heart’.

The Great Ride for Heart riders boosted awareness of heart disease prevention  by biking from North Cape to the Bluff and raised over one million dollars for the Heart Foundations $5 million heart research Fund.

A local company Douglas Pharmaceuticals donated $500,000 towards the collection.

The  Great Ride was supported by Waitakere City Council, Sport Waitakere and Avanti Plus.

The wheels day here at school was a huge success with all children bringing wheels of some kind to school. All the children were included in a prize draw. One of the participants Ralph Madison came and presented the prizes. Two children received vouchers for new bike helmets and two received vouchers for new bikes + helmets to the value of $400. These prizes were donated by Avanti Plus in Waitakere City.
