Week 7, Term 2 2010

Kia ora parents, caregivers and friends of the school,

I can’t believe another fortnight has arrived!  This term is passing very quickly.  As you may be aware, Western Heights Primary is a partnership school for the University of Auckland and we have Graduate students throughout the year.  The children enjoy these teachers as much as their Associates and all gain benefits from each other.  We have teachers here until the end of term.

Tuesday was a very colourful, if sleepy looking, day with the junior classes in their pyjamas.  One brave teacher was seen at the café next door to the school having lunch!  Who says you can’t have fun when you get older?

Thanks again to the children, parents and teachers who supported our basketball field day.  Our children played hard with good sportsmanship.  We are proud of them.

Cheers,

Pat Hutton

Book Fundraiser for Lonely Miaow

Mrs Daroux, one of our teachers, is helping out with a book fair fundraiser for Lonely Miaow (a non-profit organization that deals with stray cats and kittens). If anyone has any old books they don’t want, please drop them in to the school office.  She also does fostering for Lonely Miaow, so if you’re ever looking to adopt a kitten be sure to see her.  Thanks.

School Car Park

There have been many complaints recently concerning picking up children after school.  Could you please ensure you do not park on broken yellow lines.  The drop off/pick up zone should only be used for that purpose - not to park and wait.  It may be a good idea to stagger times, junior children first.  Also don’t double park, as this stops the flow of traffic.  The Staff car park is not to be used at any time during the day.  It is distressing to staff and other parents to receive verbal abuse, when we are trying to keep our children safe. Thank you.
