Kia ora parents, caregivers and friends of the school,
The time has come again for the community to look at the revised school charter which at present is in draft.
This document contains our school mission statement, aims and values and it also describes Western Heights Primary’s special character.
This year, we have added the two main learning targets that are audited at the end of the year in our annual accounts.
Our numeracy target is set from an ongoing cohort of children’s results who we have been tracking closely for several years.
The literacy target is set from a group of junior children who we have now selected also for a longitudinal study.
Setting and tracking these targets makes for a good action research project that we can measure learning and also our school designed programmes and their effectiveness.
The results drive our strategic planning and the professional development programme and resource management are planned from such results.
Do go onto our website and look at the Charter and feel free to make any comments. Any families without the internet just request a copy of the draft Charter from the school office.
Vandalism
If you are in the school, or walking past, and see vandals at work could you please take a photo if you have a camera or phone on you and forward it to the school. It would be much appreciated.
Krypton Factor
Our two teams were well supported by a huge group of family and friends at their Krypton Factor competition held at Oratia School last Sunday. Our B team came third over all, with both teams scoring well in general knowledge and the New Zealand map activities. See photos from the day on our school website.
