Senior Syndicate Parent Notice Term 3, 2009

 20th July, 2009

Dear Parents/Caregivers.

Welcome back. We hope everyone had a good rest over the holidays.

It was great to share your child's learning and progress at the parent teacher interviews. If you were unable to attend please make an appointment to see your child's class teacher at a convenient time.

Room renaming: Due to new rooms being added we have now renamed our classes. CS9 in Room 19,

CS16 is Room 20, CS17 is Room 21, CS18 is Room 22, CS19 is Room 23, CS20 is Room 24, and CS21 is Room 25. Make sure your child writes the new room number if ordering lunch.

Topic

The term starts with a visit from the Life Education caravan. This year the Senior Syndicate will be looking at the Brainy Bunch which includes Body Systems and Making the Right Choices. The latter part of the term will focus on "Precious Energy", comparing the use of energy in the 1880's to present day. This will include a visit to Arataki for an ‘1883 Bush Camp' experience.

Chocolate Sales

The senior school will be selling chocolate from Week 2 to raise money for camp. The cost will be $2.50 a bar. Each child will receive a box to sell. Once sold, please return the money in a named envelope. If children are able to sell more than one box they need to return the money before the next box will be given. If your child is unable to sell the chocolate please return to school immediately.

School Council

The school council are very excited to get their basketball half court project underway with money they have raised. We are waiting for good weather to allow the concrete truck onto the field.

Keep Waitakere Beautiful has given the Envirogroup a grant to purchase native plants to add to and extend the bush area on the back field.

Upcoming events Life Education sessions, Water Care educator visits, Henderson Sports Cluster Winter Field day, 1880's Bush Camp visits, Basic Facts Challenge, Class and sports photos, Spelling Bee and Senior Syndicate Disco.
