Term 3 Week 1 2009

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

Welcome back to Term 3!  We hope you managed to keep warm over the holidays and enjoyed the time with your family.  Hopefully we have seen the back of all the illness as last term was a difficult term for everyone, especially for those children who had the tummy bug and flu symptoms. We encourage children to keep their footwear on during school hours to keep warm and dry. Here are some points to note for this term:

Units of Work:

  • Health - Life Education-Happy and Healthy
  • Health -Healthy Eating
  • Physical Education - Jump Jam, Folk Dancing, Gymnastics
  • Mathematics - Number Knowledge and Strategy, Measurement-Time
  • Science -Spring animals

Dates to remember:

  • Week 1 Friday 24 July - 100 Day Party celebrations
  • Weeks 1 and 2 -Life Education Caravan - cost per child is $ 4.00
  • Week 6 Wednesday 26 August - Fancy Dress Folk Dancing morning and evening Performances
  • Week 6 Friday 28 August - Whole School Assembly-repeat Folkdance performance to School.
  • Week 8 Class photos
  • Week 9 Thursday 17th September-Trip to the Zoo.

The first highlight of the term is the 100 Day Party on Friday 24th July. The children need to bring their collection of 100 objects and a plate of food for the shared lunch. Please refer to the separate note for details.

The second highlight of the term will be the ‘Fancy Dress Folk Dancing Evening'. Over the last four years, this event has proved to be very successful and we're sure you'll enjoy it just as much!  The children will have an opportunity to showcase their dancing skills and to parade their costumes. We ask that each child come in a costume that they have at home, can borrow or hire. Last year we were amazed and delighted by the effort that went into the costumes. Hopefully, by letting you know this early in the term, you can discuss this with your child and make the necessary arrangements to get a costume. More details will follow closer to the time. If you have any queries, please speak to your child's class teacher.

Please continue to send your child to school with a healthy lunch. To sustain learning, it is vital that children are fuelled with healthy food and plenty of water to drink. We also hope to see more parents joining in with the Jump Jam fitness this term. It's a great way to start the day.

Have a happy term.

Kind regards

P.S. It is a good idea to have a spare set of clothes, however at the end of each term, we are left with a horrendous amount of lost property. Please clearly label your child's clothing and footwear to make it easier for identification and returning.  Thanks.
