Kia ora parents, caregivers and friends of the school,
Last week I enjoyed having breakfast with our students at their camps. The seniors had a fantastic time at Carey Park and all the parents involved found the experience enjoyable. For some parents it was their fourth Western Heights camp and they were sad for it to be their last.
One of their goals was to take responsible risks and they were proud to announce that nearly every student had conquered the abseiling wall. The other goal was thinking interdependently and the students successfully solved challenges.
The Arataki camp last week had the added excitement of a helicopter landing in the carpark for re-fueling. The ARC has enhanced the facilities making the education area even more comfortable and safe.
The BNZ ‘Closed for Good’ sent a number of their staff to work with students in the Enviro garden and it turned out to be a ‘Mucking In’ day with wonderful results. Do come in and have a look if you are passing by. Photos of the camp activities and Enviro Garden Project are on the school web site. www.westernheights.school.nz
Lost Toy Robots
One of the things we do pride ourselves with here at school is that we hardly ever have anything taken from school bags or tote trays. I am always complimenting the children for their honesty.
One boy has ‘lost’ several of his transformers. Optimus Prime, Mud-Flap, The Fallen and Black-Out have gone missing. The school like many other schools has a policy that we don’t take responsibility for anything valuable that is brought to school so please do not encourage your child to do so.
Cell phones can be looked after at the office during the day.
