Kia ora parents, caregivers and friends of the school,
The school is on a very busy road and safety is a priority here at school. We have a set of new crossing monitors for the year who will be out at the crossing in all weather with a duty teacher from 8.30a.m. - 8.50a.m. each morning and 3.00p.m. - 3.15p.m. at the end of the day.The road works on the roundabout is an extra hazard we now have to contend with. We have been crossing children over the last two weeks. I think the crossing is going to be re-sited.

We are now working with the architect and builders to finalize the last details before construction begins. We are pleased to announce that the building project is to begin next week.We will all be inconvenienced during this time. I could say ‘inconvenienced’ is putting it lightly, but we are excited. I am sure you will be patient and be looking forward to the enhancements just as we all are.

Our application for a grant to purchase some additional Interactive whiteboards has been successful and we can purchase four more with the help of BOT funds. The Trust has always been very supportive of Western Heights. The Boards are a fantastic addition to the classroom as they enhance teaching and learning in a successful way.
