Kia ora parents, caregivers and friends of the school,

Building Update

The students and teachers moved into their new rooms this week.  Pod A, the five year olds, are in their area and Pod B moved back in to the new rooms near the swimming pool end of the school.  The library is now free for library use.T

he administration block is still in disarray, but as you can see the new building is starting to really take shape and is looking very impressive, befitting a school in our area.

The new staffroom will be built attached to the hall, where the junior playground was situated.  We are now waiting for final Ministry of Education approval. An upgraded junior playground will be relocated when the main buildings are completed.

Enviro Schools Update

The enviro group led by Mrs Taylor and Mrs Yukich, with support from the whole staff, is very excited about a $5000 grant they received from a fund administered by Waitemata Health.  This money will be used to prepare our garden area for planting.  Weed matting, bark and garden boxes will be installed in our fenced area that has been waiting for action since February.  The BOT paid for the fencing to be done last Christmas.

School Council

The school council’s fundraising over the last five months is now being spent on an Urban Ball court down at the end of the senior school.  They are thrilled to see some ‘fruits for their labour’.  Their discos and other activities have made $5000 so far.  Well done school council!

Winter movie season begins at school next week:  This was a very popular fundraiser last year and was supported well by the junior school.  A children’s movie will be shown on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday over playtime and lunchtime, one movie per week.  The cost is $2 which will be collected by a council member from the children.  If your child would like to go to one of these specially selected children’s movies just send $2 in an envelope to school on Monday.  We call the $2 a donation that is going towards the council environmental projects.
