Kia ora Parents, Caregivers and Friends of the school,
Next week is the last week of term 3 and many children and staff will be able to rest and gather some energy for term four. I can’t remember a winter so bad for illness and other principals have said the same. Classes have been covered thanks to Joy Waddell, who has to arrange the relievers each day.Thank you must go to the parents and children who have been patient and tolerant of all the changes.
We could all do with a warm break and United Travel in Te Atatu is offering 0.5% commission to the school on any travel booked by you through them. This is their way of supporting the community that supports them.
Enviro Schools
We have been accepted as a member of the ENVIRO School Project, which sits very well with our 2008 theme of our Carbon Foot Print. This was up to now coordinated by the ARC, but at last we have an officer here in Waitakere City to support schools in the area.Next year we will be asking for support in this, as we reduce, reuse, recycle and rethink the way we do things around the school. The pupils have had an amazing year gathering data, facts and visiting parts of Auckland in a quest to understand the ‘enviro notion’ of caring for our planet through sustainability.
School Council Disco “Go the Warriors”
The school council, as part of their fund raising for their trip to Wellington, are having discos for all areas of the school. It was to be this Friday but in respect and thrill of the Warriors returning to Auckland for another game on Friday, we have changed the Disco date. It will now be next term on the first Friday, 17 October.

Netball Prizegiving
Thank you to all players and their families for attending the schools Netball Prizegiving on Wednesday night last week, and to Mrs Nummy who did a wonderful job co-ordinating.
With 70 netball players registered this season it is clear that it is a very popular winter sport within the school. A big thank you to local company Absolut Fence & Landscape for very kindly sponsoring the awards for the Pumas and Panthers teams at the prizegiving.
The year 6 Panthers team travelled to Whangaparaoa to play their final tournament of the season. They made the final and in a very close game they lost 5-7 despite being ahead 3-0 at one stage. It was a very well earned 2nd place that they achieved.
