Kia ora Parents, Caregivers and Friends of the school,
Welcome to the new families who have joined the school this term. The new pupils will soon learn about the “Western Heights Way” which makes this school a safe, friendly caring place to be. We encourage children to tell a teacher if they are feeling unsafe or unsure. New children are introduced to buddies to help in their induction to their new school. Our newsletter is published every two weeks and is also on our website www.westernheights.school.nz
Enviro Schools
We are very excited about the plans for a school vegetable garden. If you can help in any way towards this project please contact Jo-Ann Yukich. jo-anny@westernheights.school.nz We are having an area by the pool fenced so that we have more success in protecting our work.

Sturges Road Bridge
I attended a Sturges Road Bridge meeting at the council offices this week and but really do not have anything much to report. The engineers and planners are still working on consent, etc. and as it is a joint project between Trans Rail and the council the process takes a while. There is a window of opportunity to remove the bridge over Christmas but this may not be possible. Just a case of ‘watch this space’ and you will get newsletters when there is ‘some news’.
