Western heights top

#1 - Week 1, Term 1, 2008

Kia ora Parents, Caregivers and Friends of the school,

What an amazing summer we are having.  Glinks Gully was paradise with fish to be caught and a beautiful warm sea to swim in.  Now we are all back at school refreshed and ready for a busy term.

Welcome to the new families who have joined our school community this week.  We have several families who have arrived from overseas to take advantage of living in New Zealand so we extend a special welcome to them.

Two new teachers have joined the staff, Miss Jodi Hackett is in CS20 and Miss Nikita Brown is in CS8.Mr Baker and Mr Noakes have swapped areas with Andrew now in CS23 and Adam in CS19.  Mrs Stella Du Plooy has a senior class in CS9.

The school newsletters are produced fortnightly and come home on a Thursday.  Look in the school bag for them as this is our main publication for school information.  The newsletter and other interesting information can also be found on the school website.  www.westernheights.school.nz

Parent Teacher Interviews

Parent teacher interviews will be held on Thursday 28 February from 1.30p.m.  School will be closed for instruction from 12.30p.m.  Interview forms will be going out today.  Please make sure all children in your family are on one form.

Reminders

*Children must wear sun hats (clearly named with class) when outside during this term and teachers have sun block in their rooms.

*We are a water only school, so children are encouraged to have water in their drink bottles.

*The school swimming pool is open and children will have lessons twice a week.  We don’t expect to produce Olympic swimmers as our pool is small so I do suggest you have your children at after school swimming classes at a local swim school.
