#11 - Week 9, Term 2 2008

Kia ora Parents, Caregivers and Friends of the school,

Tomorrow, Friday 4 July is the last day of the term.  School finishes at 3p.m.

Term 3 will start on Monday 21 July

You will note the additional letter from the Audit and Review office included with this newsletter.

The Board of Trustees and Staff were very pleased with our ERO report this month and now you have the opportunity to read the letter to the community.

All the staff work long hours to plan for well designed learning programmes for children and attend professional development opportunities for their own learning to enhance their practice.

This has been recognised by the ERO team along with very positive comments about the children here at Western Heights.

“Children are relaxed and secure, confident to share their ideas, listen to the opinions of others and challenge themselves to try new things.  They show empathy and are quick to offer help and support when it is needed.  They enjoy opportunities for

competing at sports and organised games, secure that their

efforts will be recognised.  They are becoming increasingly able to talk about their learning and take responsibility for it.

Leadership opportunities exist for older students who enjoy contributing to making decisions.”  Page 2 of the report.

The full report will be on the Audit and Review website in two weeks.

Terry and I are looking forward to spending time with our two very young grandchildren and I hope you also enjoy some

family time over the holidays.
