Kia ora Parents, Caregivers and Friends of the school,
At this time of the year, I check all attendances of the students and have noted that a number of children are away on a regular basis. The attendance register is an official document that is audited by the Ministry of Education. We do appreciate the large number of parents who ring in to explain a children reason for being away. Unexplained absence has to be noted for the auditor. It all sounds quite a negative issue but to ‘comply’ we need to have these systems in place. As you know, Waitakere City have a Zero Tolerance to Truancy Initiative and as they say “Missing school leads to our kids getting left behind somewhere along the road.”
If you find emailing school easier than ringing send messages to admin@westernheights.school.nz
