Class Space 10
Welcome back to Term 3! CS10 have been truly fantastic at welcoming me into their class and we’ve become quite an awesome team in the last few weeks.
We have some really exciting events happening over the term beginning with our new topic of study which is Food for Life. Over the last two weeks we have had two visits to the Life Education Trust bus and spoken with Harold the giraffe about healthy eating. The class have been really interested in this and are producing some great work. Come in and have a look at our Jellybean Tree!
Very shortly we will begin another interesting side-topic called The New Zealandathon. In CS10 we have a really cool wall display where the children have a range of basic knowledge questions to learn about New Zealand…up to four different levels! The New Zealandathon is a FUNtastic way for all of us to learn more about our country and fund-raise for our school. Learning sheets will be sent home on Monday, 6th August so your whole family can have four weeks of fun ‘challenging’ each other with questions. The big day (test day), is on Friday, 31st August; so there’s heaps of time to practise!
CS10 recently started their printmaking in visual arts. Here, we have decided to link it to our Te Reo Kori physical education unit and we’re looking at the Maori legend, “In the beginning”. In this legend, Maui and his brothers separated their parents to create the sky and earth. Maui and his brothers became gods. The classes work (while in the early stages) is looking amazing and we can’t wait to share them with you!
I personally have an exciting time coming up as I’m getting married on Sunday, 2nd September. The children are really excited for me and we’ve begun the daily countdown to the big day. While I am away on my honeymoon, we have been really lucky to have the wonderful Dianna Weaver step in. Dianna and I have been sharing CS10 on my release days, so the children just are very familiar with her and adore her. I’m sure they’ll have heaps of fun while I’m away (hopefully not too much! J)
Just a reminder, please remember you are always welcome to pop in and have a look at CS10s work.
Melissa Hutton, Dianna Weaver and CS10.
