Term 4 Week 1

Dear Parents/Caregivers

Welcome back to Term 4. We have a busy term ahead of us as we count down to Christmas. Please note the following housekeeping:

·        Sunhats – during Term 4, all children must wear a sunhat during the breaks. Please label your child’s sunhat and if possible, leave it at school for regular use. Any child without a sunhat will be asked to remain under the verandahs during the breaks for their sun protection.

·        Lunches – please continue to support your child’s learning by providing a healthy lunch and plenty of water to drink (‘brain food’ and ‘brain juice’). The teachers have noticed that children are able to sustain longer periods of learning if they are fuelled with healthy food and water.

·        Units of Work:

Oral Language – Speeches (see separate sheet for details)

Fitness – Jump Jam (great to see parents joining in each morning)

Physical Education and Health – Skipping and Athletics

Science – Planet Earth and Beyond – Night and Day

Art – Calendar art, sketching, painting and Christmas Craft

Maths – Number, Geometry and Measurement

English – Viewing and Presenting – Dinosaurs at the Museum

Reading and Spelling – to continue as before

Library and I.C.T. – to continue as before

·        Museum Trip to see the Dinosaur Exhibition – we are booked in to visit the Museum on the 13th November. A notice with cost and other details will follow as soon as the cost has been finalised (approximately $10 for bus and entry)

·        Other dates to note:

Friday 12 October – Wild Hair Day

Friday 9 November – Skip Off morning

Friday 14 December – Athletics Sports

Term 4 is a busy time for the staff as we take final assessments, complete profiles for each child, finish off portfolios and write reports. If you have any concerns regarding your child’s progress, please speak to their class teacher.

Kind regards

Helen Emson
