Class Space 4

Kia Ora, Dobar Dan, Hello and Welcome to Class Space 4.

We are a class of year one children, who are enjoying our first year of school.

In the first term we learnt about the life cycle of the Monarch butterfly and were able to release 21 butterflies! As we watched the caterpillars change into butterflies, we wrote stories, sketched and painted pictures of each life cycle stage.

We have also been learning about eating healthy food and keeping ourselves fit.  We enjoy morning Jump Jam and we have been building our water confidence in the school pool.

In Term 2 we helped celebrate 50 years of The Cat in the Hat. We also celebrated 100 years of the School Journal in New Zealand schools.  We visited MOTAT to learn about life 100 years ago and invited our grandparents to visit us at school. We dressed up in 'olden day' clothes and made scones for our visitors. Our grandparents shared stories about their life when they were children. Thankyou.

We also learned how bread used to be made and how to make an electrical cicuit.

During term 2 we studied Vincent van Gogh's 'Flower Series' of paintings. We practised using primary paint colours to create our own colours. We observed flower forms very carefully and made our own flower paintings similar to van Goghs.

We started Term 3 with a countdown to 100 days at school which was on Friday 27th of August. We brought collections of 100 things to school to share with our class, and we looked at the other Junior School collections. We saw amazing collections! We enjoyed a shared lunch and a disco in the afternoon.

Also at the beginning of this term we visited the Life Education Caravan to talk about 'Food for Energy'. We enjoy eating the healthy food in our lunch box and drinking lots of water during the day.

We had a fantastic 'Pyjama Day', where we wore our pyjamas all day! We had a parade, did Jump Jam, wrote stories, practised our folkdancing and sang songs in our pyjamas!

We have lots of other exciting events happening this term including learning about New Zealand for our New Zealandathon, visiting the Corban Centre to participate in a Pasifika experience, talking with Constable Stace about ways to Keep Ourselves Safe, and having a 'Crazy Hair' Day.

Class Space 4 is an awesome group of children who enjoy their learning We have lots of fun!
