Term 3 Week 1 2007
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
Welcome back to Term 3! I hope you managed to keep warm over the holidays and enjoyed the time with your family. Hopefully we have seen the back of all the illness as last term was a difficult term for everyone especially for those children who had chicken pox. We encourage children to keep their footwear on during school hours to keep warm and dry.
Here are some points to note for this term:
Units of Work:· Health – Life Education Caravan Visit – Food for Energy· Social Studies – Place and Environment – Pasifica · Health and Physical Education – Keeping Ourselves Safe with Constable Rohan Stace· Art – Sketching, Painting and Printing· Physical Education – Jump Jam and Folk Dancing· Mathematics – Number Knowledge and Strategy, Measurement (Time and Money).· Oral Language – Newspaper News (see separate sheet for details).
Dates to remember:· Week 2 Friday 27 July – 100 Day Party celebrations· Week 4 Wednesday 8 August - Pyjama Day – children and teachers’ get to wear their pyjama’s to school (parents can too, if you’re brave)· Week 5 Wednesday 15 August - Class trip to Pasifica (more details to follow)· Week 6 Friday 24 August – Daffodil Day· Week 9 Tuesday 11 September – Fancy Dress Folk Dancing Morning and Evening Performances
The first highlight of the term is the 100 Day Party on Friday 27th July. The children need to bring their collection of 100 objects and a plate of food for the shared lunch. Please refer to the separate note for details. The main highlight of the term will be the ‘Fancy Dress Folk Dancing Evening’. Over the last two years, this event has proved to be very successful and we’re sure you’ll enjoy it just as much! The children will have an opportunity to showcase their dancing skills and to parade their costumes. We ask that each child come in a costume that they have at home, can borrow or hire. Last year we were amazed and delighted by the effort that went into the costumes. Hopefully, by letting you know this early in the term, you can discuss this with your child and make the necessary arrangements to get a costume. More details will follow closer to the time but if you have any queries, please speak to your child’s class teacher.
Please continue to send your child to school with a healthy lunch. To sustain learning, it is vital that children are fuelled with healthy food and plenty of water to drink. We also hope to see more parents joining in with the Jump Jam fitness this term. It’s a great way to start the day.
Have a happy term.
Kind regards
Helen Emson

P.S. At the end of each term, we are left with a horrendous amount of lost property. Please label your child’s clothing and footwear to make iteasier for us to sort it out. Thanks.
