100 Day Celebrations
As part of our numeracy programme, the children have been counting the days at school and discussing number concepts. This forms an essential part of our daily routine and hence, the excitement is mounting as we approach the 100th day at school. This year it falls on Friday 27th July (at the end of the second week of Term 3).
As part of the celebrations, the children will be involved in a variety of activities involving the number 100. Each child is to bring a collection of 100 objects ie. 100 pebbles, 100 buttons etc. on the day of the celebrations. These will be used to form the basis for discussions and numeracy activities. Please encourage your child to think of suitable objects to collect. It is amazing what the children think of to collect and we always look forward to seeing their collections. Please ensure that the collection comes to school in a labelled and sealed plastic bag.
On the 100th day we have a shared lunch at 12 o’clock in each classroom. Please send a plate of finger food to school for the children to share. We request that you restrict the amount of sweet food. We find that children prefer to eat a variety of finger food rather than large pieces of cake, for instance and it avoids having to throw out food at the end of the day. No lollies please. Please label your plate to make cleaning up easier. The children will need to provide their own drinks.
To finish off the celebrations, there will be a disco in the hall in the afternoon. If your child has a favourite CD, please send it along to school on the day, with their name on it. We are all looking forward to the celebrations. Any queries, please speak to your child’s class teacher.
Thank you for your support
